David Bradbury's latest film The Crater follows the journey of Brian Cleaver, a young national serviceman sent to Vietnam in 1967 and his obsession with returning to find the mass grave of 42 enemy soldiers. Brian has been living with the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder for 46 years now.

Until he decided to return, Vietnamese locals had no idea Vietcong soldiers were buried in the area, which had become a rubber plantation. The Vietnamese believe a person's spirit or soul wants to be returned to their loved ones, so knowing the location and manner of their burial is very important.

Cleaver obtained permission to return with a team of men to dig for these soldiers' remains, and Bradbury tells his story.

The Crater screens on ABC TV this Thursday 23rd April at 9.30pm
