The new Brooke Street Pier has arrived at its new home on Hobart's waterfront after a slow journey down the River Derwent.
The $13 million construction was launched into the water at Prince of Wales Bay in what developers describe as a slow and delicate operation.
The 4,000-tonne floating structure was towed eight kilometres down the River Derwent to Waterman's Dock, where it is being connected to undersea anchors.
The three-storey floating pier will house three restaurants and tourist shops and will be used as a ferry terminal by the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) from mid-December.
It is expected to be fully operational by early next year.
