Election 2016: Teenage Greens candidate Kudra Falla-Ricketts may be youngest runner
At 19 years old, Kudra Falla-Ricketts is believed to be the youngest candidate contesting this year's federal election.
The teenager is running as the Greens candidate in the seat of Page in northern New South Wales.
Today at a polling booth in Lismore, she told the ABC a voter labelled her early entry into politics as "child abuse".
"I had someone say it was child abuse, which was interesting," Ms Falla-Ricketts said.
"There have been people go 'she's very young, she's very young' but mostly not in front of me, and if it is it's usually 'oh, I was concerned about your age, but upon seeing you speak I can tell you're really great and I'm really impressed with you'.
"Most of it has been positive."
She said a lot of politicians "these days" were acting more childish than her peers.
"They are carrying on, not actually trying to create real policies," she said.
Ms Falla-Ricketts said she decided to run because she was passionate about the environment.
Her candidate page states she has spent "substantial" time in Vanuatu, so therefore "understands the region and the real significance of climate change and sea level rise".
