You can't keep The National away from Australia for long, everyone knows that by now.

So, we are thrilled but not at all surprised to announce that the moody indie rock behemoth will return to our shores for seven big shows next March and April.

UPDATE: The band have rescheduled their tour dates and will now be here in December.

These festivals and gigs have been postponed or cancelled due to coronavirus

The band have just released their eighth album I Am Easy To Find, another triumph for a band whose run of good form has been pretty much undisturbed for a decade and a half.

While the band have a long list of excellent records, fans know that a great live show from The National is an even more affecting experience than listening to those songs on record. As mentioned before, the band have been very generous in spending a lot of time in Australia, which has helped them build an immense fanbase down here.

As a result, they've gone ahead and locked in three shows for Melbourne and two shows for Sydney right off the bat. Further details can be found at the bottom of the article.

Their new record sees the band hook up with a string of celebrated female vocalists, who add an exciting new dimension to the band's hefty narratives and intricate songcraft. We might just be thinking wishfully, but maybe their choice of support can help them out on a couple of those songs…

Joining the band on the tour will be the brilliant Phoebe Bridgers, who made her first visit to Australia last year.

Bridgers has been rightly acclaimed for her extraordinary debut album Stranger In The Alps, but has also made incredible music as boygenius – with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker – and Better Oblivian Community Center – with Conor Oberst.

Put simply, she has a hell of a lot of really great songs. She is a very welcome addition to what was already a pretty damn exciting tour.
