One of the world’s finest choral directors, Stephen Layton, joins us to talk about his 10 years with The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge, recently voted one of Gramophone magazine’s '20 Greatest Choirs'.ChoirofTrinityCollegeCambridge

There are 30 singers, or choral scholars as they’re known, in the choir along with two organ scholars, and all are undergraduates at Cambridge .

Their singing tradition dates back six centuries to the all-male choir of the 1400s, but today it’s a mixed choir, male and female voices, a new tradition that started in the 1980s.

Their focus also includes contemporary young composers like the American Eric Whitacre, Latvia’s Eriks Esenvalds, Australia’s Joseph Twist and one of the exciting new generation of Polish church composers, Paweł Łukaszewski.
