It's been a week of glitz and glamour in Fiji: there's been bright lights, models on the catwalk - and fashion designers from right across the Pacific showing off their work.

The Fiji Fashion Show is on again, this year marking 10 years of the event.

While such events elsewhere in the world are a big drawcard for potential buyers who might take up new fashion items, Fiji's fashion show is less about the buyers and more about putting on a dramatic event for the media.

But Matt Taylor, who's the event's producer says that they hope that some of the international buyers attending do take note of the designs, many of which are unique to the Pacific.

At the moment, Fiji's fashion industry is worth around FJ$100 million each year and the country's Fashion Council is working on growing that.

As part of this week's event, local designers have been invited to take part in a workshop all about 'The Business of Fashion'.

The chairman of the country's Fashion Council, Faraz Ali, says they've brought in international experts who are sharing their experiences and trying to help Pacific designers learn from some of their own difficult experiences.
