Sharon Van Etten takes us back to the dawn of the new millennium, sharing the music that soundtracked her "lost years" this week.
At 18 Sharon moved to Tennessee to go to college. But within a year she had dropped out and was working at a live music venue, far away from family and friends. It was a time of discovery, growth and self reflection. And also incredible music, from The Strokes to Low, Jimmy Eat World to Sleater Kinney, Spoon to Bjork.
"I worked at a venue called The Red Rose. It was really more of a collective. And also a record store and screen printing space. Everybody there had different tastes in music. And they educated me on genres that I didn’t know existed." - Sharon Van Etten
