Fed. Govt loses asylum-seeker medical evacuation bill

The Federal Government has lost a vote on a contentious bill on medical evacuations of asylum-seekers.

The legislation included a series of amendments, allowing doctors greater say on the medical treatment of people on Manus Island and Nauru.

This is the first time a government has lost a vote on its own legislation in 90 years.
