That’s yucky – when did children become such picky eaters

"No, I don't want it!" A familiar mantra at dinner tables the world over as parents encourage their children to try new foods.

Before the 20th century children were not actually picky eaters, they had coffee, they had beer, they enjoyed a range of vegetables.

And is there anything to be done to return the taste buds to turnips and horseradish?
