Say g’day rather than look away

Homeless support organisation St Bart’s is urging members of the public to say ‘g’day’ when they pass someone living on the street.

Rhett Hayes was living in his car for about three months last year, following a relationship breakdown.

He was parked in Mandurah, south of Perth, when a small act of kindness from the ranger helped to turn his life around.

“She had a little card with the homeless helpline on there," he said.

"She gave that to me and I rang up and they put me through to St Bart’s.”

Listen to his conversation with Jo Trilling on Afternoons.
