'Dancing to the President's tune': Scott Morrison's state visit

Scott Morrison can expect the red-carpet treatment when he arrives today in Washington D.C., on the first official state visit by an Australian prime minister since John Howard in 2006.

He's only the second foreign leader during the Trump presidency to receive the rare honour of a state dinner.

Lowy Institute executive director Michael Fullilove, who is also in the US capital and will be addressing the Brookings Institution tomorrow, says Scott Morrison could end up being one of the few democratic leaders able to maintain friendly relations with the US President.

Guest: Michael Fullilove, executive director of the Lowy Institute

Producer: Cathy Van Extel
