Tourism has been a major casualty of COVID-19, but the arts have been hit equally hard.

Dozens of events including concerts, comedy festivals, music festivals and theatre performances have been cancelled.

And it's not just artists who are affected by the cancellations: catering staff, event organisers, stage crew, sound and lighting technicians are all suddenly finding themselves out of work.

And many of them are casuals and contractors.

Representatives from right across the industry held a roundtable with the Minister for the Arts Paul Fletcher on Tuesday to discuss the response.

Guest: Adrian Collette, CEO, Australia Council for the Arts
Producer: Tim Skelton
