In July this year, a prominent Papua New Guinea businessman – Jacob Luke – was found dead in bushes close to his home in Enga province.  

His death sparked a shocking level of violence. Women were rounded up by a mob, and about a dozen were tortured. 

Four of them died. 

This is what Ruth Kissam is fighting to put a stop to. 

Ruth has been fighting for the victims of sorcery accusation related violence in Papua New Guinea since she gave up law study to become a human rights activist.  

She's now board president of Advancing PNG Leaders Network, and organisation she set up after being deputy director for PNG Tribal Foundation. 

Ruth tells Hilda Wayne about how this situation came about and how it became her life's mission to stamp it out.
