We know that it’s fundamentally aimed at maintaining international peace, security, and cooperation. But what does it actually do? What would a world without the UN look like? And how did it come about?

Rod Quinn spoke to Ian Hurd, Professor of Political Science at Northwestern University; and author of After Anarchy: Legitimacy and Power in the UN Security Council, and How to Do Things with International Law.
