Amateur radio operator Joel Zink heard a rumour that you could use a two-way radio to make contact with people aboard the International Space Station.

So for weeks he sat in his front yard trying to radio an astronaut.

Last week he finally got a reply, from none other than Dr Kjell Lindgren.

"Welcome aboard the International Space Station," the reply said.

"It definitely made my day, that's for sure," Joel tells Christine.
