Victorians are facing some of the toughest sanctions in the country for breaching social distancing laws which include only leaving the house for food, medication, exercise, work or education, if you can't do that from home.

However childcare centres and schools are still open.

Up until a few hours ago, couples who didn’t live together, couldn’t visit each other.

That rule has been clarified by Victoria’s Chief Health Officer via his Twitter:

“Regarding 'Stay at Home' rules: We have no desire to penalise individuals who are staying with or meeting their partners if they don't usually reside together. We'll be making an exemption.”

We speak to Brett Sutton to find out more about why this change has now occurred.
