Nuclear war in Taiwan Strait?

China's Defence Military spokesman said the Australian government's warnings on the threat of war over Taiwan was irresponsible, accusing Australia of citing confrontation.

However, while Chinese military activity has steadily increased around Taiwan this year, it's put pressure on Taiwan and at the same time, sent a message to the United States. But what do the experts think about the likelihood or possible scenario should conflict occur, and what steps should be taken in order to prevent any intensification.
